Spanish 2: Syllabus
This high school credit course is a continuation to Spanish 1. Students will continue to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills to promote meaningful language practice. Students will practice and master new vocabulary, learn grammar, engage in conversations, and practice what they have learned through hands-on projects.
Content may be subject to change due to pedagogical considerations.
Preliminary Unit: Review vocabulary related to shopping, food, health and sports.
Unit I: Talk about planning a trip using the present progressive tense.
Unit II: Talk about a typical day using reflexive verbs.
Unit III: Talk about traveling using the preterite tense.
Unit IV: Talk about restaurants using the preterite tense of irregular verbs.
Unit V: Talk about computers using the preterite and imperfect tenses.
Unit VI: Talk about life in the city and country using the future tense.
Unit VII: Talk about foods and food preparation using formal commands.
Assessment
The assignments for this class are divided into four weighted categories:
40%: Assessments (Tests and large projects)
30%: Homework
20%: Quizzes (Quizzes and mini-projects)
10%: Classwork
Grade scale:
100 - 90 A
89 - 80 B
79 - 70 C
69 - 60 D
59 or less F
All work is expected to be handed in on time. Grades will be posted in Google Classroom. A zero will be recorded until the work is submitted. If students do not hand in an assignment when it is due, they will receive 10% off the earned grade for the first day it is late, 20% for the second day, 30% for the third day, 40% the fourth day, and 50% for the fifth day. Beyond that, late or missing assignments will result in a zero.
